Esmaeil Ghorbani
Dr. Esmaeil Ghorbani is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Complex Infrastructure Systems (CIS) group, where he applies network science to model interconnected mechanical and structural systems such as bridges and energy grids. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Polytechnique Montréal, developing a data-driven digital twin for a hydro turbine in collaboration with Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. A registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), he spent three years at KGS Group in the hydro consulting industry, supporting mech-structural rehabilitation projects across Canada and the USA. He earned his PhD in structural engineering from the University of Manitoba at Canada in 2021, specializing in data-driven damage quantification for civil infrastructure, and received the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) for three consecutive years as well as the Douglas Grime Fellowship. Earlier, he worked for four years at TurboTech. Company in Iran in vibration analysis of rotating machinery. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering.
